Hauled Wastewater
RV waste, septage, port-a-potty waste, restaurant grease, or any other hauled liquid waste can only be dumped at the Kishwaukee Water Reclamation District treatment facility, 1301 Sycamore Road in DeKalb. Liquid waste may never be discharged into manholes or catch basins.
Before dumping any hauled wastewater except RV waste, YOU MUST APPLY TO THE DISTRICT FOR A PERMIT. In addition to your permit application, you must present, at a minimum:
Hauled waste can be dumped at the KWRD facility from 7 a.m. until 3 p.m. Monday through Friday, except holidays. After-hours or weekend receiving can be accommodated for an additional fee.
Trucks dumping at the facility can have a maximum capacity of 3,000 gallons unless otherwise approved. You do not need an appointment to dispose of septage or port-a-potty waste, but you must provide at least 30 minutes notice before arriving with fats, oils, or grease.
Each time waste is dumped, the hauler must provide a manifest documenting when and where the wastewater was received and a sample of the wastewater for testing.

Residents of the KWRD can empty the toilets of their personal recreational vehicles at no cost at the District’s wastewater treatment plant. RV waste can be dumped from 7 a.m. until 3 p.m. weekdays, except holidays.
Please stop in at the office the first time to receive instructions on where and how to dump your RV waste.
